Power FM To Unveil New Uganda Gospel Music Sensation “AweSam” At Red Carpet Event

The gospel music industry in Uganda continues to grow by leaps and bounds, giving urban contemporary secular music a run for its money.

A music duo of Ritah Awesome Buguzi and Samuel Abinsinguza (Samie Smilz), aka “AweSam” is set to be officially unleashed on the music by 104.1 Power FM on Friday.

The much anticipated music do will be held at Watoto Church Central (downtown), in the middle of Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

Ritah identifies as a Worship leader, singer and songwriter based in Kampala with special interest in contemporary Christian musician.

The property manager has been nominated thrice by the VIGA Gospel Awards organisers. The nominations include; ‘Female artist of the year’, ‘My Daddy’ song was nominated for best inspirational theme song of the year while ‘Me Love’ was nominated in the category of ‘Best Techno House Rock song of the Year.’

According to a local news site, Awesome believes that leading worship in churches and at youth fellowships is her divine calling.

A song writer, Samie is a graduate of Makerere University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering.

Halleluyah, Addicted, I Belong and Wampangula are some of his gospel hits off his 2016 album, B.O.L.D.

“I was actually born and raised in a small village of Bugangari in Rukungiri District in western Uganda. Growing up from such an environment gave me a chance to learn that creativity was going to be my way of expanding my opportunities.
I took interest in music earlier on in high school and started participating in school choirs at that time a singing group called Life Changing Ministries – LCM. It’s there, that l learned how to play guitar and started writing songs that we would then sing in our school fellowship,” Samie said in an interview last year.
He added, “This period nurtured me and out of it, the name “Samie Smilz” was birthed because I seemed to keep a warm smile on my face always.” 
A social media campaign under the hashtag, #PFMPresents19 led by the Power FM is already lighting up micro-blogging site twitter.
