A mammoth crowd on Friday converged on Booma Grounds in Koboko district, Northern Uganda to pray for the country’s Investment Minister Evelyn Anite.
Religious leaders of all faiths were part of the hundred who gathered to thank God for how far he has brought her and pray for the minister’s protection.
Early this week, Anite shocked the nation after she revealed at a press conference that the mafia within government had lined her up for elimination although she did not mention names.
“The plan by the mafias is to take Anite out of the picture, I might die but history will judge them. You know the mafias, they are the ones who have been blocking the audit. Do not live in denial,” Anite said in the press conference in Kampala.
Anite has been battling to have troubled telecom company, Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL) audited, although a section of government officials have been opposed to it.
The country’s President Yoweri Museveni recently wrote a letter to ordering that an audit be carried on out on the troubled telecom company.
During the prayers on Friday, Anite vowed that she will die fighting for UTL.
“As a kakwa, I cannot sit down and see the corrupt robbing our country. I will fight to my last breathe. I will not loose the UTL fight,” Anite said.
