God’s presence is an assurance for our success. However, sin repels the presence of God.
Exodus 33:1: Then the LORD said to Moses, “Depart and go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, “To your descendants I will give it.’
Exodus 33:2″ And I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.
Exodus 33: 3: Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” God says “I am a jealous God”
There’s personal accountability for your own Sin.
Exodus 33:13: Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
Moses is interceding for Israel, for the people over whom God has given him stewardship. God responds to him this way: Exodus 33:14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:15: Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. The LORD’S presence brings rest and peace. Notice the news of God’s displeasure brings mourning and anguish in the hearts of the Israelites.
Exodus 33:4: And when the people heard this bad news, they mourned, and no one put on his ornaments. Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
What is the purpose of God’s presence? The LORD’S presence gives us success by giving us rest and comfort. When the Holy Spirit is with you, He Himself guides you. And an angel is not God. Do you want God’s presence? Cry out to God as a covenant God.
Moses reminds God that Israel is His inheritance. His presence guarantees favor even when we don’t deserve it. Please read Psalm 23 and Psalm 73:21-28 The LORD’S presence gives His children hope and courage through their journey Hope in the LORD this year.
Have confidence in the God who promised. He will bring it to pass. Shalom.
