City Joseph Collins Twahirwa, alias Daddy Collins, of Epikaizo Ministries International in Bugoloobi has been remanded to Luzira prison on charges of raping a 36-year-old Latvian tourist.
He was remanded on Wednesday by Nakawa chief Magistrate Ritah Nuembe Kidasa. Collins was arrested early this week.
Prosecution alleges that Twahirwa, a lawyer by profession, on December 12, 2022 at Munyonyo Zone in Kampala had unlawful carnal knowledge with Saulite Anda without her consent.
Collins entered the courtroom wearing a jumper with a hood under the tight guard of his lawyer and family members who shielded him from journalists.
Last weekend, Anda told a local daily her harrowing ordeal after she had arrived in Uganda in December to tour the country, a journey that turned into a nightmare for here.
In the interview, she revealed how Collins told her he had come to warm her and he also wanted to have a baby with her.
