The State Minister for Sports who also doubles as Ngariam County MP Hon. Peter Ogwang has hailed the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Anita Among for leading by example after leading a host of honourables to the Fundraising drive in Katakwi District.
The Speaker was the chief guest at the fundraising drive to support village women savings groups in Ngariam County in Katakwi District.
Over UGX 150m was raised to support the Groups with the speaker contributing UGX 100m.
“Thank you Rt Hon Speaker Anitah Among for leading honourable colleagues for my fundraising drive to support village women savings groups in Ngariam County. May your generosity lead you to everlasting prosperity & may the Lord bless, replenish and enrich you all a thousandfold,” Hon. Peter Ogwang said.
“I am happy to be home in Ngariam, Katakwi District to lead a drive to raise money to support our women at the grassroots. Organized groups once supported can be torch bearers for economic transformation.
I thank my brother Hon. Ogwang Ogwang for inviting us to support his vision,” Rt. Hon. Anita Among said.
The Speaker said to maximize returns on investment in village savings groups and Saccos, there is need to think of facilitating these groups with financial literacy, business, and life skills to help them start income generating activities. She asked Hon. Peter Ogwang to make that a priority.
“I want to thank the people of Ngariam for the love, gifts and solidarity. I urge all the Leaders from Teso to unite and use the opportunities available to push for the development of the region,” The Speaker added.
