The Old Kampala Police have initiated a thorough investigation following a harrowing incident involving an attempted murder targeting Pastor Alloysious Bugingo from the House of Prayer Ministry and the tragic killing of his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard.
According to the police, the distressing event unfolded around 9 PM on January 2nd, 2024, when unidentified assailants opened fire on Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle, registered as PRAIZ GOD, along Namungona, Zone 2, Kasubi Rubaga Division Kampala, specifically at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road. The assailants quickly fled the scene on a motorcycle after the attack.
Despite sustaining injuries during the assault, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo managed to navigate the vehicle to Mulago Hospital. However, Muhumuza Richard, the devoted bodyguard, tragically succumbed to the attack and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Presently, Pastor Bugingo is receiving medical treatment and remains under close supervision.
The swift police response to the incident revealed signs of tampering at the scene. Eyewitness accounts have been diligently recorded, and the deceased’s body has been transferred to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a comprehensive postmortem examination.
