Col Edith Nakalema, Senior Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption and Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit, joined congregants at Ruharo Cathedral for a joyous Sunday celebration marking the 14th Anniversary of Bishop Assoc. Prof. Sheldon Mwesigwa as the 5th Bishop of Ankole Diocese.
Under Bishop Mwesigwa’s leadership, the Diocese has achieved significant milestones that reflect its mission of “Empowering God’s people with holistic development.” Among the notable accomplishments are the creation of nearly 6,000 jobs and the establishment of a rapidly growing Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) with a capital of UGX 38 billion. The Diocese has also made strides in media with Revival Radio 93.2 FM and the recent launch of Revival TV.
In addition to these, the Diocese has invested in educational development by building several schools, supporting large-scale poultry farming, and enhancing coffee production. These initiatives not only bolster the local economy but also provide essential services to the community, reinforcing the Diocese’s commitment to holistic development.
During the celebration, Col Nakalema highlighted the essence of servant leadership, referencing Matthew 23:11, “The greatest among you will be your servant,” to commend Bishop Mwesigwa’s dedication and service to the community.
“We have witnessed incredible progress and transformation within Ankole Diocese over these 14 years,” Nakalema remarked. “Bishop Mwesigwa’s vision and commitment to empowering God’s people have laid a strong foundation for continued growth and prosperity.”
The event was filled with gratitude and hope, as the community reflected on the positive changes and looked forward to further advancements under Bishop Mwesigwa’s guidance. Col Nakalema extended her blessings to all, wishing everyone a blessed week ahead.
