Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, has urged the country to step up its efforts to combat the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
Museveni made the remarks while giving an update on the ebola situation in the country.
In his address, Museveni said Ugandans should use the medicine God gave to fight ebola instead of depending largely on prayers.
Uganda has so far recorded 141 cases and 55 deaths. The outbreak was declared in the country on Sept. 20.
The virus circulating in Uganda is the Sudan strain of Ebola, for which there is no proven vaccine, unlike the more common Zaire strain that spread during recent outbreaks in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
