Uganda’s First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, has urged Ugandans to expose unethical activities in order to address lack of responsibility by the leadership and administration in schools.
First Lad Maama Janet Museveni made the remarks while speaking at the National Conference on Ethics and Morals on Wednesday.
BELOW IS AN ABSTRACT OF HER SPEECH POSTED ON TWITTER
I applaud the Parliament of Uganda, particularly the Speaker Rt. Hon. Anita Among & the Parliamentary Forum on Ethics & Integrity, for having convened us earlier this week to audit the nation’s state of ethics & morality & to focus on its significance in our growth & development.
I recommend that Parliament embraces this noble idea of conducting a National Conference on Ethics & Morals as an annual event.
I urge you as leaders to gather every year to take stock of your leadership against the parameters of moral & ethical values. It is not enough to just hold a talk show, we each need to honestly look at our hearts’ intentions & actions on a daily basis as we serve our nation.
I also call upon all Ugandans to work with Government to expose unethical activities to enable us to address this lack of responsibility by the leadership & administration in our schools & communities.
It is my prayer that God enables us to instill a culture that upholds integrity in our personal lives & among those we represent.
