In a remarkable ceremony that brought together faith and governance, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni officiated the consecration of the new Bishop, Dr. Moses Odongo, of the National Fellowship of Born Again and Pentecostal Churches of Uganda.
The event, held at a Kololo Independence Grounds in the heart of Kampala, was not only a celebration of spiritual leadership but also a call to action for economic empowerment and wealth creation.
President Museveni, known for his emphasis on economic transformation and prosperity for all Ugandans, used the occasion to underscore the importance of the Church in championing messages of wealth creation.
He invoked the example of Jesus Christ, who, besides His spiritual teachings and healing ministry, was also a skilled carpenter.
“there is no miracle wealth, We as Christians must be in the footsteps of Jesus; He preached the gospel , healed the sick, fed the hungry and worked (as a carpenter ),” President Museveni said.
BELOW IS HIS FULL MESSAGE POSTED ON X
I witnessed the consecration of Bishop Dr Moses Odongo as Archbishop/Overseer of the National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal Churches in Uganda (NFBPC).
I congratulate Dr Bishop Odongo upon his election and consecration. I also congratulate his predecessor, Bishop Joshua Lwere for his good service all the past years. The NFBPC was an idea/movement brought into existence by my former Minister Balaki Kirya and it is interesting to see what this Balokole movement has morphed into.
It reminds me of the story of the mustard seed. Furthermore ,there are several parts in the Bible that emphasize man must work , there is no miracle wealth, We as Christians must be in the footsteps of Jesus; He preached the gospel , healed the sick, fed the hungry and worked (as a carpenter ).
This is what we have been preaching in the NRM. Religion and wealth creation must move in tandem. I, therefore, call upon Dr Bishop Odongo, the entire leadership of the NFBPC and the born-again Christians to champion the message of wealth creation just like the bible says in Mathew 5:16.
