Ugandan gospel musician Myco Chris is on cloud nine after his daughter, 14-year-old Israella Chris won the famed The Voice Kids Music Talent show on Wednesday.
Israella was crowned winner of The Voice Kids on Thursday by host Emma Willis, with the contestant winning a trip to the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida.
However, host Emma Willis wowed the finalists when she announced that, this year, the other three finalists would be going too.
Having heard she’d won, Israella said: ‘Thank you all so much for believing in me and I really hope I made you proud.’
‘I want to thank these guys over here,’ she said, referring to her fellow finalists. ‘You guys brought the fire this year!’
She sang How Great Thou Art by Carrie Underwood for her final song.
Her father, Myco has been based in the UK after a largely unsuccessful music career in Uganda. He shot to fame with his collabo zino enaku with Radio and Weasel.
Myco however, turned to God and started singing gospel music. In 2016, he returned to Uganda to organise a gospel concert. In addition to singing, he now doubles as preacher of the word, songwriter and producer.
He has also previously led worship at Phaneroo Ministries International services.
