City pastor accused of raping Latvian tourist arrested

Pastor Joseph Collins Twahirwa of the Bugolobi-based Epikaizo Ministries International has been arrested according to reports.

Twahirwa was arrested after a Latvian tourist, Saulite Anda accused him of rape.

Also arrested are three cops attached to Jinja Road police station. They are; Sgt Doreen Oyera, Cpl Judith Akite and constable Joyce Ayereget. The trio are accused of conspiring with the pastor and will faces charges of irregular conduct contrary to section 44 of the Police Act.

The CID director, Maj Tom Magambo reportedly ordered the arrest of the three detectives.

Anda says she was invited to Uganda by Twahirwa and arrived at the suspect’s home in Bugolobi on December 12, 2022. Upon arrival, the pastor reportedly confiscated her passport, LV4336528. He also allegedly robbed her of $300 and €400 before eventually raping her. Anda was thereafter advised to file a case at Jinja Road police station.
